Imagine putting on a pair of VR glasses and instantly finding yourself surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Hangzhou, thousands of miles away. On December 18th, the Hangzhou Tourism VR Promotional Film was officially launched online, offering an immersive experience that showcases the city's beauty, its UNESCO World Heritage sites, and six key themes: tea culture, silk traditions, local cuisine, rural tourism, and more. This innovative approach allows visitors to explore the charm of Hangzhou from anywhere in the world.

Many people believe that VR technology creates a completely virtual world, but it's more than just a simulation. The current VR imaging technology provides a more vivid and realistic experience compared to traditional media like text, images, or even standard videos. For tourism promotion, this technology is far more engaging, transforming flat content into interactive 3D experiences. It shifts passive watching into active participation, giving users a sense of presence and immersion that transcends physical space. This kind of interaction not only enhances user engagement but also sparks the desire to travel.

The use of VR in promoting Hangzhou tourism reflects the city’s forward-thinking strategy and creative efforts to attract international visitors. Whether you're in New York, London, or Tokyo, all it takes is a pair of VR glasses to transport yourself to Hangzhou in just a minute. This initiative includes a total of six episodes, each highlighting different aspects of the city. The "Humanities Hangzhou" and "World Cultural Heritage" series serve as comprehensive versions, showcasing the city’s brand image and core attractions. Each episode lasts about five minutes and focuses on the daily life and lifestyle of Hangzhou residents.

In addition, there are four shorter episodes dedicated to specific cultural themes: tea culture, silk culture, food and dining, and rural tourism. These last around three minutes each, offering a focused look at each unique aspect of the city. Notably, the comprehensive "Humanities Hangzhou" episode is titled "Hangzhou One Day." From the perspective of a tourist, this film follows a day in the life of a visitor, capturing everything from morning routines to evening relaxation. It highlights the city's vibrant lifestyle, rich cultural heritage, and stunning natural landscapes, showcasing the unique charm and relaxed atmosphere that make Hangzhou so special.

According to officials from the Hangzhou Tourism Commission, the city's global appeal has been steadily rising, especially in the period before and after the Asian Games. The VR promotional films were specifically designed for the international market. They had their world premiere in Budapest, Hungary, at the end of November. Following this, the entire series will be released on major platforms such as social media, SteamVR, Oculus Store, VR Show, and Viviport. Additionally, authoritative travel magazines like National Geographic (US, European, and Asian editions) will also feature these videos, ensuring wide exposure and reaching a global audience.
