On the afternoon of November 13, 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government held a press conference in Beijing. During the event, they announced that the 6th China Electronic Information Expo (CITE2018) would take place from April 9 to April 11, 2018, at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. CITE2018 is a key industry event aimed at promoting the implementation of the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Wu Shijing, Director of the Electronic Information Department at MIIT and Deputy Chairman of the Expo Organizing Committee, attended the press conference. Wu Shengwu, Deputy Director of the Electronic Information Department at MIIT and Director of the Expo Organizing Committee Office, provided an overview of the preparations for CITE2018. Gao Yuyue, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government and Deputy Director of the Expo Organizing Committee Office, shared details about the exhibition layout and the development of Shenzhen’s electronic information industry. Chen Wenhai, General Manager of China Electronic Equipment Corporation and Secretary-General of the Expo Organizing Committee Office, outlined the organizational efforts behind the event. Ren Pingping, Marketing Director of HKUST’s Information Technology Co., Ltd., represented exhibitors by discussing the preparation of the AI museum.
Over 150 representatives from media outlets such as Xinhua News Agency, China Central Television, China Daily, and Sina, along with industry associations and leaders, attended the press conference.
The China Electronic Information Expo, also known as CITE, is jointly sponsored by MIIT and the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, and organized by China Electronic Equipment Corporation and the Shenzhen Flat Panel Display Industry Association. The goal of the expo is to become an annual event that leads the global electronics industry, with high international influence. After five years of growth, CITE has become the largest and most comprehensive electronics exhibition in Asia, establishing itself as a key trend indicator for the industry.
At the 19th CPC National Congress, it was emphasized that building a modern economic system requires focusing on real economy development, improving supply quality, and enhancing China’s economic advantages. This includes supporting the upgrading of traditional industries, accelerating the development of modern services, and aiming for international standards. As part of this vision, the electronic information industry is expected to become one of the world-class advanced manufacturing clusters.
CITE2018 will highlight the latest developments in next-generation information technology, promote breakthroughs in core industrial technologies, and drive supply-side reforms in the IT sector. With over 100,000 square meters of exhibition space, the event will feature 25 professional pavilions, including areas dedicated to artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, high-end chips, virtual reality, intelligent vehicles, smart homes, and e-sports.
The AI Pavilion will showcase the full AI ecosystem, featuring cutting-edge products like VR, quantum communication, and robotics. Companies like Intel and Coworth are expected to participate. The Smart Vehicle and New Energy Pavilion will highlight China’s growing role in electric and connected vehicles, with major automakers such as BYD and SAIC expected to attend.
The Smart Home Pavilion will demonstrate how traditional appliances are evolving into smart solutions, while the Intelligent Manufacturing Pavilion will focus on robots, drones, and wearable tech. The event will also include forums, innovation awards, and industry seminars, bringing together experts, entrepreneurs, and professionals to discuss the future of the electronics industry.
With its strong international presence and comprehensive coverage of the electronics value chain, CITE2018 is set to be a landmark event in the global electronics calendar, offering new opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and growth.
