Osram introduces the new OSRAM Ostar Stage LED-ready flat glass window with a very narrow beam and high brightness that is the cornerstone of compact concentrating. Ideal for moving stage lights (ie moving heads), this LED provides a powerful beam for rock concerts and other impressive lighting layouts. This LED can be used in any size spotlight, from compact stage spotlights to large moving head lights.

The OSRAM Ostar Stage LED uses a flat glass coated with an anti-reflective coating instead of a regular lens to make the LED flatter. Its height is only 1.23mm, which is one-fourth of the usual height, so it can make the spotlight more compact.

The glass cover of this new LED is optimized to better project light into the lens system. Its optical expansion (emission angle/area ratio of the illuminating surface to the projection surface) combined with the customer optics produces a very narrow beam of +/-9°, half the beam produced by a spotlight with a plastic-packaged LED. The brightness of the spotlight is thus doubled.

It is reported that these powerful light sources are based on OSRAM Ostar SMT and contain four different chips of red, green, blue and white. This means that it can basically generate any color. All four chips are fabricated using high-efficiency thin-film technology, so almost all of the internally generated light is emitted from the top, allowing more light to be concentrated into the customer's optical system.

In
pulse mode, a single chip can operate at currents up to 2 amps (A), and in continuous mode it can operate at 1A, so the maximum brightness values ​​are: 146lm for red, 234lm for green, and 1.3 for blue. W and white light 286lm. At a typical output of 10W, the overall brightness of an LED can be as high as 700lm. The LEDs are the right size and are as small as 5.9 mm x 4.8 mm. At 3.1 K/W power, the thermal resistance is very low and there are no thermal issues. When used continuously, it can last for more than 50,000 hours, which greatly prolongs the service life of the moving head light.
