Win10 unable to build hot spots? Self-inspection finishing program goes a wave

Although Windows 7 had its own hotspot sharing feature, it required several steps to set up. Unlike Windows 10, where you can just click to enable it, many users opted for third-party tools or small devices to share WiFi (including standard network cards at the time). Since there was no built-in hotspot function, people relied on these alternatives. However, after upgrading to Windows 10, if the native hotspot feature wasn't working, the first thing to do was open the Command Prompt by pressing Win+R and typing "cmd". Then, enter the following command:

Netsh wlan show drivers

This command checks whether the network card supports hotspot sharing. If the output shows "No" under "Supported Bearer Networks," then your hardware doesn't support creating a mobile hotspot. In that case, using a third-party app might be your only option.

If your network card does support hotspots but you still can't enable the personal hotspot, the next step is to check the Device Manager. Right-click on "This PC" and select "Properties," then go to "Device Manager." Once there, look for any hidden network adapters.

In the Device Manager window, click on "View" and make sure "Show hidden devices" is checked. This will reveal any hidden network adapters. Look for something like "Microsoft Managed Network Virtual Adapter," or similar names such as "Microsoft Virtual Wi-Fi Miniport Adapter" or "Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter."

Once found, right-click the adapter and check if there’s an "Enable" option. If so, click it and restart your computer. If not, try updating the driver and then restart. After rebooting, you should be able to create a mobile hotspot from the lower-right corner of the taskbar.
