Glory Distributed Routing is a New Product Launched by Huawei in Router Products in 2017

Glory's distributed routing solution was designed to tackle the challenges of wireless coverage in large homes. With features like "big flat floor (around 150mm)", "duplex apartment", and "villa (two or three layers)", it offered a WDS (Wireless Distributed System) solution tailored for these environments. Unlike power cat solutions that depend heavily on the quality of electrical wiring, Glory's approach ensured better performance and reliability.

The WDS system also includes parent-child and peer-to-peer designs, but the peer-to-peer design used by Glory allows for greater flexibility and ease of use. Each unit is identical, making setup straightforward without the need to distinguish between primary and secondary devices. Features such as high-speed networking, plug-and-play functionality, seamless roaming, and intelligent optimization make this product stand out.

1. What is distributed routing?

The Wireless Distribution System (WDS) is a technology that enables communication between base stations. It functions as a wireless repeater, allowing multiple base stations to be connected. In short, distributed routing is a product solution designed to address the needs of larger wireless coverage areas. Can we call distributed routing with 1+1+1+... in a free network? No! A simple bridge + AP cannot replace distributed routing. The biggest advantage of distributed routing is seamless roaming, no WiFi glue! Enjoy it like silk! Also, the configuration difficulty and learning cost have been significantly reduced with distributed routing solutions (of course, at a certain price).

As the first distributed product launched by Glory, the price of 899 yuan might seem high at first. But what are similar products on the market?

5. Installation - Too Casual

Thanks to Huawei's strong R&D strength, Glory's distributed routing has finally brought a WDS solution for large flats, duplexes, and villas. After ten days of experience, I shared my results in a self-built two-story building.

Since the solution uses “Industrial Mesh Intelligent Networking Technology,” the three-route device is exactly the same on the hardware level. Therefore, installation doesn’t matter “children,” and any interconnection line is automatically identified as Top.

6. Background Management

Regarding router control platforms, most manufacturers have transitioned from web-based to mobile. To increase user engagement, many vendors launch routers APPs with their products. Xiaomi and Huawei, aiming at the “smart home” market, have integrated their router apps into their unified smart home apps. This experience is mainly measured from the mobile terminal – Huawei's “Smart Home” APP.

The first connection to Huawei Distributed Routing will prompt the installation of Huawei's “Smart Home APP.” This is a unified control platform based on the Huawei HiLink standard for smart home devices. The APP design is refreshing and friendly, displaying all your HiLink smart devices.

7. Test into the House

This small homestead is located in a village city, with a land area of 9m × 14m. After years of development, every household is basically a three-story building. My family has a small population, so the ground is a two-story house + a half-layer insulation.

It has been determined that the demolition will be completed in 18 years, so the residential property is getting worse and worse. It can be seen that the direct access is the signal of route 00, and the dual-frequency signal is distributed far and near, which conforms to the general rule. The route 00 signal is basically around -30, and the signal is excellent. The 5G channel defaults to 149. The feeling is not the optimal configuration, and the channel will be switched automatically after a period of time.

8. Conclusion

In the second half of 2017, it was destined to be a "maniac period" for Huawei to launch new products intensively. In October, Huawei Mate10/10P started in Berlin.
