The MAX9867 is an ultra-low-power stereo audio codec designed for portable consumer electronic products such as mobile phones and portable game consoles. The device has a stereo differential microphone input and can be connected to an analog or digital microphone. The single-ended line-in signal passes through a configurable preamplifier and can be input to the ADC for recording or directly switched to the headphone amplifier for playback. The auxiliary ADC channel can be used to track any DC voltage. Stereo headphone amplifiers support differential, single-ended, and filterless output configurations. With the filterless capacitor output configuration, the device can provide 10mW output power for a 32Ω load. Complete click / pop noise suppression circuit can eliminate audible noise during volume change, startup or shutdown. Using Maxim's proprietary digital circuits, the device can accept any system clock in the 10MHz to 60MHz range. This architecture eliminates the need for external PLL and multiple crystal oscillators. The stereo ADC and DAC channels provide user-configurable digital filters for voice or audio frequency bands. The voice band filter provides additional attenuation in the GSM packet band and has a stopband attenuation greater than 70dB at the fS / 2 frequency point. The MAX9867 operates from a single 1.8V power supply and supports logic levels from 1.65V to 3.6V. The volume, signal mixing, and normal operating modes can be controlled through the 2-wire, I²C serial interface. The MAX9867 is available in a small size, 2.2mm x 2.7mm, 0.4mm solder ball pitch WLP package. A 32-pin, 5mm x 5mm TQFN package is also available.
