On November 22, 2017, Huacan Optoelectronics celebrated a significant milestone. The groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase of Huacan Optoelectronics (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. took place in the Yiwu Information Optoelectronics High-tech Zone. Attendees included Yiwu Mayor Lin Yi, Mr. Zhou Fuyun, Chairman of the Board of Huacan Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., and Liu Wei, President of the company.
The second phase project is a major provincial initiative with a total investment of 6 billion yuan. The second phase alone involves 3 billion yuan in investment, covering 143 mu of land and 150,000 square meters of construction area. This expansion will significantly boost the production capacity of LED chips, elevating the company’s manufacturing standards to an unprecedented level. With this development, Huacan Optoelectronics is set to enter a new phase of growth.
Once fully operational, the Yiwu Plant is expected to produce 12 million LED epitaxial chips and 52 million sapphire substrates annually. The project is anticipated to generate 6 billion yuan in annual sales revenue and 1 billion yuan in profit and taxes. It will also create over 6,000 job opportunities, contributing significantly to local employment.
Beyond economic benefits, the completion of this project marks a key step in advancing the localization of LED chip technology in China. It helps reduce the cost of end-user applications and strengthens China’s position in the global LED industry.
