Maxim introduces the MAX16823 high-voltage, 3-channel, linear high-brightness LED driver with built-in LED open-circuit detection for automotive exterior and interior lighting applications. The device operates from a 5.5V to 40V input voltage range, ensuring cold start and load rejection (up to 45V).
Each channel of the MAX16823 can deliver up to 70mA for one or more strings of high-brightness LEDs (HB LEDs). When the drive current exceeds 70mA, an additional inexpensive bipolar transistor is required. The device also features an active-high, open-drain LEDGOOD output for LED open-circuit detection. The MAX16823 combines multiple functions with high integration for automotive taillights (RCL), brake lights (CHMSL), warning lights, and RGB indicators.
